Watching Candy Cane get made at Logan’s Candies in Ontario, CA
We stumbled upon Logan’s Candies on our search for fun Christmas things to do with the kids. Located in Ontario, CA Logans has been making handmade candies in SoCal for over 79 years. Logan’s also offers Candy Making Demos at different times of the year for visitors to watch how their candies are made.
In December, families from all over SoCal visit Logan’s Candies to watch them make their signature peppermint candy canes. The 45-minute presentation goes from boiling the sugar all the way to bending the candy into its iconic shape. At the end of the demo, you can even form your own unique candy cane! Nothing puts you into the holiday mode faster than eating a warm candy cane!
Hearing this, we were excited to try it out for ourselves!
When you walk into Logans, you can sense how much love is put into the store. The Rowley family has created something special in Ontario. A family-first business that locals have been bringing their kids to for generations. Honestly, I’m not just saying that. We spoke to other parents who said the Logan’s Candies Christmas demos were a holiday tradition their parents brought them to when they were little.

At the end of the demo, they make a handful of the batch into free samples for everyone to try! I didn’t know this, but fresh Candy Cane is delicious! After a quick crunch through the outside of the candy cane, you get into its chewy peppermint center. So good! The only drawback is you’ll only want to eat fresh candy cane’s after you’ve tried it.
Bend your own Candy Cane
If you buy a ticket, you can shape your own Candy cane at the end of the demo. Tickets cost $1.95 per candy cane. We recommend purchasing a ticket before the demo because the lines can get pretty long towards the end.
We showed up 15 minutes early, hoping to get a front-row view. Still, families were already lined up along the inside, and outside windows for the 9:45 am demo. Thankfully, we still had a great view from the outside. Jerry and his family expertly walked the crowd through the entire candy cane process. Reciting a well-rehearsed script that was packed with information and light-hearted jokes. Once the first batch of candy canes were finished, and the demo came to an end that crowds dispersed into the other parts of the store, which gave us the best views of the candy rolling process.
Afterward, we handed in our tickets and rolled a few fresh candy canes for ourselves. They were warm to the touch and easy to shape into whatever we wanted. Kairi ended up eating hers almost immediately, so she kind of just balled it up. Trang made a heart and I made a spiral one for myself.
Searching through the rest of the store, we picked out a few other candies, and I waffled back and forth on getting a real scorpion lollipop. In the end, I chickened out, but it’s good to know bug candies are there if I ever want to try them.
In all, I think we were there for about an hour. Kairi had a great time, and that’s what’s most important to us.
Should you go?
Yeah, what kid doesn’t like candy? Watching the candy-making process is a fun experience. The warm candy cane is delicious, and it’s interesting to see how it’s made. The Rowley family is very welcoming, and it’s easy to see that they love what they’re doing.
Should you visit the store if you aren’t planning to see one of Logan’s live Candy Cane demos? We’re not sure. We didn’t try enough of their other candies, but all the flavors of candy cane we had were delicious!
